Description
During my stroll around the ancient town of Besalu, Gerona, Spain, my attention was caught by the charm of what seemed an ancient building, possibly a home, with hand-crocheted curtains gracing the entrance door and, above it, a very small niche with an image (possible Mother Mary).
Besalu features arcaded streets and squares and also a restored mikveh, a ritual Jewish bath dating from the eleventh or twelfth century, as well as the remains of a medieval synagogue, located in the lower town near the river.
