Description
A flowering tree softens this Belle Epoche vignette captured in calle Moyano, known as Cuesta Moyano where, established in 1925, a very popular street market for old, second-hand and new books has been in continuous operation to-date even during the Spanish Civil War. It is located not far from El Prado, Reina Sofia, and Thyssen-Bornemisza museums, between the Botanical Garden and the elegant palace which now is the Ministry of Agriculture, and communicates Atocha with El Retiro Park. Right across the street from the building shown, rudimentary wooden stores erected for the "book market" at the very site where it all started were replaced with sturdy near-replicas. Image protected by US and international laws, not to be copied, altered, or used in any way without prior written consent from the artist, Nieves Nitta. Thanks for visiting!

Good Sunday morning to our honorable Lady Nitta, a.k.a. the globe-trotter extraordinaire. Being in your lovely gallery is like taking a virtual reality tour of much of the world, my lady. A lot of your images deserve to grace the front cover of many travel publications. I hope you have checked into that. You can also make pretty good money when they pay you royalty.
