Description
This castle, situated amidst a sea of wild flowers, is a delightful place to visit.
Also known as the Castle of the Mendozas, this palace-fortress was erected in the 15th century in the town of Manzanares el Real near Madrid, Spain, next to the reservoir of Santillana at the foot of the Sierra de Guadarrama. Its construction begun in 1475 on a Romanesque-Mudejar hermitage and today is one of the best preserved castles in the Community of Madrid. The nearby reservoir can be seen from the castle and lends additional charm. Bring a sack lunch to enjoy while letting the view sink in!

Heartfelt thanks for taking time to visit, Bijan. Love your thoughtful comments. Actually this castle is near Madrid, Spain, my home town.

Good evening to a sweet young lady, I thought I'd better stop by your gallery to see what's shakin'. You, my lady, must be among the most well-traveled globe-trotters I've ever known. The variety of subject matters in your lovely collections is wonderfully refreshing. I have a feeling you have great stories to tell because of the wealth of your experiences. Your gallery tells me that you're the embodiment of somethign I've been saying for years : COLLECT RICH, MEANINGFUL EXPERIENCES, NOT THINGS. Nobody has ever seen a U-haul truck behind a hearse. When we go to the world beyond, we take memories, not things.
