Image of Cuenca Old Town captured from the gorge, shows the cathedral at the center. This cityscape seems to be framed by trees and lush foliage. The hanging houses of Cuenca, Spain, or Casas Colgadas, situated above the ravine of the river Huecar are famous, important landmarks of the city. The most iconic such structures are situated very near but not included in this view. Their existence, going back to the XIV and XV centuries has been well documented; they remain in good condition thanks to various restorations, particularly those done in the XX century.
