Light is implied in this stained glass window; without bright light outside there wouldn't be such rich colors, story, and image for the viewer to admire in the work depicting the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ in the Monastery of Batalha.
The Monastery of the Battle, a Dominican convent in the municipality of Batalha, in the district of Leiria, in the Centro Region of Portugal. The Monastery is a stunningly ornate Gothic creation dating mostly to the reign of King Joao I. Sublime gift is the gift of salvation, or so I keep hearing. You must be a woman of strong faith, my lady. If that is the case, you have a divine gift in your soul.
Nieves Nitta replied:
Thank you, Bijan, for such uplifting words. Salvation is a gift as is the faith I pray for. Skilled artists/artisans are inspired to depict their belief with art to be enjoyed, admired for ages, and captured to share, as with this stained-glass window work in Lisbon. Blessings!
