Description
A modern mother-and-child monument atop a simple fountain graces the green areas in front of the Historical Momos Palace in Zamora, Spain. The palace dates from the late 15th century, and has an architectural style in transition from the late Gothic to the Renaissance. It was built at the wishes of the Commander of PeƱausende, Pedro de Ledesma, and was originally known as the 'Casa de Sanabria'. It is currently the site of the Palace of Justice. Its most significant feature is its off-centre doorway with a semicircular arch, above which there is an abundance of ornamentation including elements such as crests, balls, floral motifs and human figures (Spain.info excerpt). Thank you, Kay, so glad you like it! Modern sculpture -- I have not been able to identify author -- in front of very old architecture. Image might make kind of different mother's day salute! With as much traveling as you are fortunate to do, you may find time to return to Spain.
