Artist's Description
UNESCO World Heritage Site - No. 441
In March of 1974, local farmers drilling a well in search of water in Xian, China, near Emperor Qin's Mausoleum found large pottery fragments that lead to the discovery of an army of terracotta warriors and horses buried 2200 years earlier. The site is now a museum where excavation and restoration work continue. It is believed that thousands of statues still remain to be unearthed at this archaeological site, which was not discovered until 1974. Qin (d. 210 B.C.), the first unifier of China, is buried, surrounded by the famous terracotta warriors, at the centre of a complex designed to mirror the urban plan of the capital, Xianyan. The small figures are all different masterpieces of realism with their horses, chariots and weapons. Image protected by US and international copyright laws, not to be copied, altered, or used in any manner without prior written consent from the author, Nieves Nitta. Thanks for visiting!

It is a wonderfully beautiful world out there, and soon after starting taking pictures I felt impelled to share those images with friends, family, and beyond, as a way to relive the moments that I had so enjoyed capturing, perhaps even allowing others to see those places, people, art,...
