Detail of one of the murals in the Xaansi History Museum, Xian, China, excavated from tombs of theTang Dinasty. The murals were vividly painted by the craftsmen of the Tang Dynasty, depicting true aspects of people's social lives of that period. Murals in this period are very famous for its portraits of ladies who were from upper class. The Shaanxi Provincial Museum houses over 400 mural paintings excavated from over 20 tombs of Tang Dynasty (Museum Website).
