The Quadracci Pavilion was created by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava in 2001 as part of the Milwaukee Art Museum (MAM), Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The Museum collection contains nearly 25,000 works of art. It is one of the largest museums in the United States. The Quadracci Pavilion contains a movable, wing-like brise soleil that opens up for a wingspan of 217 feet (66 m) during the day, folding over the tall, arched structure at night or during inclement weather. The pavilion received the 2004 Outstanding Structure Award from the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering. This iconic building, often referred to as "the Calatrava", is used in the museum logo (Wikipedia excerpts). Born in Madrid, Spain, for many years residing in West Texas and loving it. Although with educational and professional background in business administration, Art was my passion from as early as I can remember. Busy rearing two children while fully employed, my budding interest in painting eventually turned to a pursue of the almost "instant gratification" that I thought photography would offer while capturing my impressions, especially when traveling.
