Description
Cityscape of Toledo taken from near the bell tower of the Church of St. Ildephonse, or Jesuits. Two doves add charm to this view of the city, with its Cathedral and Alcazar. Construction of the Jesuits church took over 150 years; the stone facade has a large window and sombre decoration with enormous corinthian columns that frame the niches of the church's saints like the altar dedicated to San Ildephonso, a 7th-century bishop of Toledo. When seen from a distance, the imposing semi-spherical dome (not shown here) of the church stands out, almost equaling the height of the Cathedral and the Alcazar castle.
