Artist's Description
Colorful tile entrance to the Madrid studio of Spanish impressionist painter Joaquin Sorolla y Bastida, situated on the back of his home, now a popular museum that displays many of his works. The Hispanic Society of America in New York City is home to a very important collection of works by this artist. A major component of this museum is the Sorolla Room which was reinstalled in 2010. It displays The Provinces of Spain, 14 massive paintings commissioned by Archer Huntington that Sorolla created from 1911 to 1919. These magnificent paintings, totaling over 200 linear feet (61 m), ring the large room and depict scenes from each of the provinces of Spain (Wikipedia excerpt). Image protected by US and international copyright laws, not to be copied, manipulated, or used in any manner without prior written permission from the author, Nieves Nitta. Thanks for visiting!
