Artist's Description

The (Texas) State Historical Marker Committee in 1968 erected a marker (not part of this image) on the site of the Loving Ranch house in Jermyn, Jack County, that reads: "SITE OF LOVING RANCH HOUSE. BUILT 1872 BY J.C. LOVING, THE SON OF PIONEER TRAIL DRIVER OLIVER LOVING. J. C. LOVING WAS AN ORGANIZER AND FIRST SECRETARY OF TEXAS AND SOUTHWESTERN CATTLE RAISER ASSOCIATION. THE ORGANIZATION FIRST OFFICE WAS AT THE RANCH, WHICH WAS LATER OPERATED BY LOVING'S SON OLIVER II."
James C. Loving (1836–1902) was an American cattleman and rancher in Texas. He raised "the largest purebred shorthorn herd" in the United States by the end of the nineteenth century. He was a co-founder of the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association and served as its secretary for twenty-seven years. J. C. Loving was the son of

Born in Madrid, Spain, for many years residing in West Texas and loving it. Although with educational and professional background in business administration, Art was my passion from as early as I can remember. Busy rearing two children while fully employed, my budding interest in painting eventually turned to a pursue of the almost "instant gratification" that I thought photography would offer while capturing my impressions, especially when traveling.
