Description
The Guadalquivir river refreshes Cordoba a city in Andalusia, Spain, rich in traditions, the ancient center of Roman, Christian, Jewish, and Moorish cultures, and one of the warmest spots in Europe. The Roman bridge was probably built by emperor Augustus but has been restored many times over the centuries due to wars. As this image shows, the area of the Mosque-Cathedral is the center of interest in this monumental and historical city, very popular with locals as well as foreign and Spanish tourists.
Córdoba, also called Cordova in English, is the capital of the province of the same name. It was a Roman settlement and then colonized by Muslim armies in the eighth century. It became the capital of the Islamic Emirate, and then of the Caliphate of Córdoba, including most of the Iberian Peninsula. The city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site - No. 313.
