Que suerte for you to be able to visit this historic spot!! I am very envious of your many travels!! This is a fabulous view of the old buildings, and am hoping I can follow in your footsteps one day soon to see this for myself!! Saludos!!

Nieves Nitta replied:

Tony, I'm very happy you enjoy my work. Thank you! It is my thinking that how one feels about the subject influences how the image is seen or appreciated. Traveling offers wonderful opportunities and, of course, my interest in Spanish architecture and sites is obvious. How true, what we often hear: "do it while you can!" Now not possible for us but I so enjoy the memories! Blessings on your work.

Thanks a million for your comment and the fav Kay. During a 7-day stay in Cuenca, one of my favorite places, I had time to leisurely walk around town looking for that, special in my opinion, angle or POV. The place were we stayed was very near to the left of those houses which also offered a magnificent view. I appreciate your visiting!

Artist's Description

The well-preserved medieval fortified city of Cuenca was declared UNESCO World Heritage Site No. 781 in 1996.
Cuenca is rich in history, its origins date back to the Moors who recognized its strategic value and built a fortress there in 714. The Christians seized Cuenca in the 12th C and constructed Spain's first Gothic cathedral. The "hanging houses," or Casas Colgadas, situated above the ravine of the river Huecar are famous, important landmarks of the city of the city. Their existence, going back to the XIV and XV centuries has been well documented; they are in good condition thanks to various restorations, particularly those done in the XX century. Emblematic monuments with wooden balconies, the houses are visited by many foreign and Spanish tourist alike. One of the structures houses the Spanish Abstract Art Museum, other a popular restaurant, some offer lodging with wonderful views of the Old City. About Nieves Nitta

Nieves Nitta

Born in Madrid, Spain, for many years residing in West Texas and loving it. Although with educational and professional background in business administration, Art was my passion from as early as I can remember. Busy rearing two children while fully employed, my budding interest in painting eventually turned to a pursue of the almost "instant gratification" that I thought photography would offer while capturing my impressions, especially when traveling. It is a wonderfully beautiful world out there, and soon after starting taking pictures I felt impelled to share those images with friends, family, and beyond, as a way to relive the moments that I had so enjoyed capturing, perhaps even allowing others to see those places, people, art,...
