Up-close image of the 19th-century Fountain of Ceres, goddess of agriculture, located in the middle of a pond surrounded by bright pink flowers, in the Jardín del Parterre (a garden), behind the royal palace in Aranjuez (Community of Madrid, Spain). The fountain was made in 1804 and attributed to Esteban Ágreda (1759-1842). (Wikipedia Commons)
The Royal Site of Aranjuez is located at the confluence of the Tagus and Jarama rivers, 42 kms (26 mi) south of Madrid, and 44 kms (27 mi) from Toledo. It has been one of the Royal Estates of the Crown of Spain since the times of Philip II in 1560. Until 1752, only the royalty and nobility were allowed to dwell in the town. The Cultural Landscape of Aranjuez was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2001, Site No. 1044. ( Wikipedia Commons). The beautiful Aranjuez complex was composer Joaquin Rodrigo's inspiration for his famous Concierto de Aranjuez and is a popular tourist destination favored by countless Spanish as well as visitor...
Born in Madrid, Spain, for many years residing in West Texas and loving it. Although with educational and professional background in business administration, Art was my passion from as early as I can remember. Busy rearing two children while fully employed, my budding interest in painting eventually turned to a pursue of the almost "instant gratification" that I thought photography would offer while capturing my impressions, especially when traveling. It is a wonderfully beautiful world out there, and soon after starting taking pictures I felt impelled to share those images with friends, family, and beyond, as a way to relive the moments that I had so enjoyed capturing, perhaps even allowing others to see those places, people, art,...

Yes, the beautiful gardens of Aranjuez must have been inspiration for that wonderful musical masterpiece. The Concierto de Aranjuez is a very familiar work but I had no idea that Rodrigo composed it while in Paris! I read in wikipedia that on 30 December 1991 Rodrigo was raised into the Spanish nobility by King Juan Carlos I with the hereditary title of Marqués de los Jardines de Aranjuez (English: Marquis of the Gardens of Aranjuez), title later inherited by his daughter. Thanks for the question that prompted me to learn more about this great Spanish composer!

He also compsed another piece titled SPRINGTIME IN ARANJUEZ.

Is there any connection between this gorgeous site and a spanish guitar piece titled CONCIERTO DE ARANJUEZ by the Spanish composer Juaquin Rodrigo? It was composed in 1939. Since I'm crazy about classical music, I've been listening to it off 'n on for many years.
